Design and development of precast concrete mine supports -- Progress report
Two different models of 5-piece concrete set were designed, fabricated, and tested under adverse loading conditions; tests showed that precast concrete sets for underground use performed satisfactorily under loading conditions more severe than those assumed in original design; lubricant should be used at movable joints to reduce friction, thereby reducing concrete spalling; design considerations, fabrication and destruction testing.
