Pressure distributions on spillway flip buckets
Method was developed for calculating pressure distribution and free-surface profile of steady, two-dimensional, potential flow past spillway flip bucket or toe-curve without gravity; method was applied to compute pressure distributions on two flip buckets of Hartwell Dam with 3-ft radii and lip angles of 20° and 40°, respectively; computed pressure distribution for 40° bucket agrees extremely well with measurements from model studies.
