Wind driven water currents
Flow induced in body of water by wind blowing over surface is studied in series of experiments in laboratory channel; results are coordinated by dimensional analysis and general principles of turbulent flow; for large Reynolds number, mean and turbulent velocities when related to shear velocity follow outer law distribution; effects of vertical and lateral channel contraction are also considered.
