Hydraulic transport of solids in sloped pipe
Effects of heterogeneously suspended solids in pressure flow of liquid on head losses or energy gradients for various pipe slopes, solid concentrations, and flow rates were investigated; wooden balls having average specific gravity slightly larger than unit, were mixed with water in heterogeneous suspension and transported through lucite pipe; it is shown that increases of solid concentration and flow rate raise energy gradient in pipe flow of solid-liquid mixtures.
