Response of elastic cylinders to plane shear waves
Dynamic response of thick-walled cylinder embedded in infinite elastic medium is determined due to passage of plane harmonic shear waves; at certain incident wave frequencies, predominant tangential stresses are found to be 10% to 20% greater than corresponding static values; maximum tangential stresses produced by incident shear wave are 40% to 60% greater than those produced by similar compressional wave.
