"Equivalent load" method for elastic thermal stress problems with particular application to arch dams
General method of computing deflections and stresses in structures subject to arbitrary temperature states is presented; essence of this consists in finding suitable force system to prevent any movements in heated structure and subsequent removal of this restraining force system to find deformation of structure; method is illustrated by solution of problem of thermal stresses arising in thin arch dam; numerical values of this solution are obtained by use of finite difference techniques.
