A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Intake studies, Dardanelle Lock, Arkansas River, Arkansas
Intakes to lock were tested on 1 to 25 scale model that accurately reproduced upstream lock approach, 3 spillway bays adjacent to lock, intakes, and culverts and including upstream culvert valves; tests were concerned chiefly with elimination of vortex tendencies in lock approach, and low pressures immediately downstream from culvert valves; results of tests and derived improvement in design are described.
