Refractory life is intensified in open hearth steel production
Use of oxygen somewhat complicates operation of roof and other elements of lining but under mechanized conditions, there is only slight drop in refractory life; measures must be taken to improve quality of repairs, arrangement must be made for removal of dust before fumes enter regenerators, and roof design must be improved.
