Premature failures of built-up roof-systems
Study of premature failures in builtup roof systems caused by solar heating and radiative cooling was carried out by Building Materials Laboratory of U S Bureau of Standards; study revealed that expansion and contraction of composite membrane due to changing temperatures is greater at low temperatures than that of other components generally used in builtup roof system, while movement due to thermal changes is most severe at low temperatures, although minimal at high temperatures.
