Kurobe Dam to Be 630 Ft domed arch
Domed arch concrete dam, under construction by Kansai Power Co, Osaka, will be 1240 ft long at crest and will contain 2.1 million cu yd of concrete; it is founded on coarse grained biotite granite; central overflow spillway is designed to pass flood flow of 35,000 cfs; water impounded is to be conveyed through 6-mi pressure tunnel to underground powerhouse equipped with three 86,000 kw generators.
