Precast arches for gym span 132 feet
Long span reinforced concrete arches which form framing for school gymnasium in Homer City, Pa, were fabricated 250 mi away and trucked to site in sections weighing 22 tons apiece; all framing above ground level is high-strength precast concrete; concrete has 28 day compressive strength of 6000 psi; cost of precast construction was 5% less than that of wood-and-plaster construction.
