A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Analysis of simply supported plates subjected to uniformly distributed load is investigated; analysis is based on yield condition for orthotropic metals suggested by Hill, which reduces to Mises yield condition for isotropic materials; classical method and proposed variational method are used in investigation; comparison of results shows that multipliers obtained are in close agreement and that proposed variational method provides convenient means for estimating safety factor.
