Assessment of flammability of plastics materials
Survey of flammability test methods currently in use; simple ignition, thermoanalytical, propagation, spread-of-flame tests, tunnel, and standard structures tests and their applicability to plastics materials; behavior of typical plastics, comparison and correlation of tests; presence of halogen and nitrogen compounds suggests possible evolution of toxic agents like phosgene, HCN, but, so far, indications are that major risk is concentration of CO, characteristic of any fire short of oxygen.
