Safe side friction factors and superelevation design
Results of about 900 road tests dealing with curvature lead author to propose that highways be superelevated to counteract centrifugal force for speed of 3/4 assumed design speed; results to be expected are: aiding slow vehicles without penalizing faster traffic, safer driving in slippery weather, and greater uniformity of design. (See also - discussion p 76-80)
