Strain-rate effect in plastic wave propagation
Plastic wave due to longitudinal impact on uniform bar is studied by means of simple model of generalized strain-rate-dependent theory; it is found that this wave is absorbed at certain distance from impact end, and that this distance, compared with length of bar, furnishes quantitative criterion for significance of strain-rate effect.
