200,000-kw power plant is being built on site which was mainly mud with layer of pottery clay beneath; boiler and turbine building is founded on concrete raft 500×248 ft surrounded by steel sheet pile cofferdam; reinforced concrete structures are carried on concrete piles; 50-kw turboalternators are supported on 720-cu yd concrete blocks; foundation walls of pumphouse are built as retaining walls between two rows of sheet piles; construction stages illustrated.
