Colorado's Leadville Tunnel
Leadville tunnel is Bureau of Mines project, designed to unseal rich but flooded lead, zinc and manganese mines; plans provide for extending tunnel to total length of 17,300 ft; special timbering necessary; flows of water varied between 1650 and 2675 gpm; drill hole maintained 20 ft ahead of face.
