Development and Testing of Explosive-Anchored Rockbolt
Explosive-anchored rockbolt developed by Bureau of Mines and tested in nine mines produces anchorage superior in holding power to anchors of wedge or expansion-shell types in medium hard or soft and spongy ground; it is equal to any rockbolt anchor presently being used in hard rock; tests obtained anchorages in excess of 17,000 lb in soft formations with bolt head movements averaging 0.013 in.; best charge was from 10 to 14 in. long, producing three beads. (see also similar unsigned article in South African Min and Eng J v 75 n 3733 Aug 21 1964 p 605, 612)
