Low-cost garage structure shows design finesse
Precast screens of "shocked" concrete, each nearly 3 stories high and 1 car wide, were formed and erected in one piece for new 388-car garage in New York; garage will be extended on both sides to serve as low wall for existing administration building and new 25-level hospital to be erected at Bellevue Hospital Center; second interesting feature is exposed haunches which rest upon cantilevered beams, making only simple bracketand-bolt connection necessary to secure screens.
