New staggered-floor garage design cuts cost
Construction of 400-car ramp garage built in Los Angeles, for Bureau of Power and Light, designed to permit speeds up to 30 mph in handling cars, increase storage space as compared to conventional design, do away almost entirely with forced draft ventilation and decrease total cost 20%; floors are "staggered" at different levels in opposite halves of building, permitting short, straight ramps and use of overlapping areas for storage.
