Flow characteristics in flood-control tunnel 10 Fort Randall dam, Missouri river South Dakota
Tests conducted to investigate flow characteristics of large circular conduit, flowing full, included measurement of pressures in tunnel intake and along tunnel, and velocity distributions obtained from 9 total-head tubes mounted on streamlined strut spanning tunnel horizontally; electrical signals from transducers and hot-film anemometers were recorded on both oscillographs and magnetic tape; resistance coefficients indicate interior surface intermediate between hydraulically smooth and rough flow limits, but closer to rough.
