Inelastic stability of multistory, multibay rigid frames
Incremental load procedure was developed for determination of elasto-plastic behavior of plane rigid frames from zero load condition to ultimate carrying capacity; procedure utilizes displacement method of analysis and includes effects of joint displacement, strain reversal, axial force, and spread of inelastic zones in members; ultimate load of frames failing by bifurcation or by bending can be determined; computer program was written for elastic-ideally plastic material, but it could be modified for other stress-strain relationships.
