Reference to several highway bridges constructed in last years, using weathering steels Cor-Ten from United States Steel and Mayari R from Bethlehem Steel; these steels that paint themselves, develop protective patina that inhibits further oxidation; with time and exposure to normal weather cycles, rusting process reaches plateau; surface will continue to oxidize at rate of approximately 0.05 mils/yr, but this amount is negligible; mechanical properties and recent architectural applications of various weathering steels.
