Analysis of triaxial test for granular soils
Based on analytic formulation for isothermal flow of idealized cohesionless soil, several implications are deduced for triaxial test (compression test in presence of hydrostatic pressure); specific form for loading surface and flow rule is selected; stability problem is examined; effect of elastic membrane conventionally used in triaxial testing on behavior of granular material is discussed; in certain respects limited analytical and numerical results appear to agree with experience in soil mechanics testing.
