Small-scale experiments in removal of oil from sand with emulsifiers; deoiling effect of two different types of emulsifiers on air-dried and damp sand was examined; results show that sand with particle size of less than 0.2 mm cannot be deoiled, while coarser sand, with particle sizes of up to about 0.4 to 0.5 mm can be deoiled only with accompanying emulsification; for damp sand (0.3 to 0.4 mm), relation between deoiling effect and amount of emulsifier used can be stated by means of exponential function.
