Cylindrical shell roofs with draped prestressing
Analysis of circular cylindrical shells prestressed within curved surface and supported on diaphragms at shell ends; satisfactory convergence of Levy type solution to Donald-Karman-Jenkins cylindrical shell equation is found; theoretical solutions are compared with experimental results obtained from small scale aluminum model of intermediate length; deflections and strains at number of places were measured when model was prestressed with variety of draped and straight cables; test results were repeatable and reliable.
