Elimination of moments in shell roofs by prestressing
It is possible to eliminate transverse bending moments by prestressing since final stresses at all points in shell can be made equal to membrane stress plus constant value; this constant is what would be obtained if loads were applied along axis of shell; example showing how cables can be arranged so that transverse bending is eliminated at all points in shell.
