Subgrade restraint stresses in concrete roads
Application of theory of bending of beams on elastic foundation shows that, for practical purposes, subgrade restraint stresses are uniformly distributed across depth of slab; unit width of semi-infinite slab resting on subgrade is considered and it is assumed that constant shear force, lb/in., is developed along underside of slab as it contracts.
