Modern techniques for thickness design of concrete pavements
Influence charts that make practical application of theory to pavement design are employed to determine amount and significance of stresses at various locations in slab; design charts developed for critical stresses at transverse edges are presented and their use is illustrated; review of flexural fatigue research shows that use of endurance limit at stress ratio at 0.5 is justified; methods are given for estimating expected truck traffic during design life; entire design procedure is illustrated by thickness design for section of rural, four-lane interstate highway with uninterrupted traffic flow.
