System developed in Netherlands in which plastic is used in form of drain pipe is described; hard PVC pipes used have 4 cm diam, length 5 or 6 m, wall thickness 0.8 mm, weight 140 g/m, number of saw-slits 60/m, length and breadth of saw-slits 2.5 and 0.6 mm respectively; drainage effect of plastic pipes is compared to that of clay tiles by means of sand tank and experiments in field.
