Behavior of reinforced concrete frames subjected to repeated reversible loads
Five model frames were tested to determine if it would be possible to disregard problem of alternating plasticity for case of reinforced concrete frames; 2 frames were tested under proportional loading to apparent collapse to determine instantaneous collapse load; remaining 3 frames were subjected to large number of cycles of ultra severe alternating overloads, and then loaded to apparent collapse; test showed that bond strength around critical sections, and stiffness of frames, were greatly reduced by repetition of alternating overload cycles.
