Prestressed bridge carries Cardiff-Penarth road over river Ely
New prestressed concrete bridge in England is formed of 2 counterbalanced cantilevers connected by suspended span; both cantilever and suspended spans are straight in plan forming cords with minimum offsets to horizontal curvature; concrete panels slotted into structure will conceal changes in direction of cords and will follow curve in plan; river piers take form of concrete-to-concrete saddle bearings because from time to time they will be submerged.
