Main purpose of tests was to verify authors' previous proposal regarding allowable reduction of web reinforcement (indexed from n 151 1962 issue); tests showed that only small or nil diminution of ultimate load was caused by reducing degree of web reinforcement; ultimate strength design applied to beams in this study proved to be more suitable than present design based on allowable stresses.
