Rig described is Benoto, deep caisson excavator developed in France and used for digging 57 caissons 115 ft deep and 40 in. in diam for 40 story apartment building in Chicago; rig is hydraulically operated and powered by 120 hp diesel engine; it can bore shafts of 20 to 40 in. diam to maximum depth of 350 ft; machine simultaneously digs and cases hole.
