Valuable performance record for pressure creosoted timber was rounded out in 1940 with dismantling of creosoted ballast deck bridge on Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway after 42 yr service; bridge was replaced by new creosoted timber ballast deck pile trestle; replacements during this period and condition of original piles, stringers and caps at time of dismantling are given in detail.
