Investigation of multi-folded plate structures
Method for analyzing stresses and deflections in folded plate structures by using "degenerate" form of cylindrical shell theory is described; analysis allows complete interaction of one plate on another to be examined; tests were conducted on folded plate model made from light alloy consisting of three bays in which both strains and deflections were measured for variety of loading conditions; experimental values were compared with values derived from theory; identical model made from sand-cement mortar and reinforced with mild steel wire was tested and experimental and theoretical values were compared.
