A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Simple method requiring only use of slide rule is presented for calculating flexural moment as well as shearing and normal stresses in hyperstatic frame structures; method is based on assumption of existence of inflection points in center of frame members which makes system statically determinate and easily solvable; cases at staged portal with fixed uprights, and staged rectangular frame on hinge supports forming Vierendeel-type cantilever, both subjected to lateral force acting on upper cross bar, are solved.
