Fitting rolled earth dams to local materials
Proposed designs of rolled earth dams based on exploration of materials closest to given site for classifying them with respect to their geological and physical nature and extent, without preconceived ideas as to their ultimate utilization; introduction of random section for flexibility in material selection; standard design modified for slow drawdown; eccentric cores; influence of interior drain in reducing wave damage; liberalized compaction requirements. (See also - discussion p 724 and discussion n 12 Dec p 790)
