Results of tests on more than 300 16- by 24- by 4-in. slabs subjected to outdoor freezing and thawing with calcium chloride; additional tests to study effect of various protective coatings and various admixtures on scaling of concrete caused by deicing agents; surface protective coatings tested included silicones, latexes, and curing materials; admixtures included air-entraining agents, fly ashes, silicones, and latexes.
