Circular factory building
Novel approach to factory design has been made by Austrian firm of Ludwig Binder and Co; OD of 79.4 m represents total of nearly 5000 sq m of floor space; central hall diameter is 52 m and floor area 2090 sq m; enclosed volume is 46,000 cu m; principle of reducing crane travel to minimum led to adoption of circular hall with traveling cranes pivoted at center; circular shape in turn made possible use of light weight, stressed membrane steel roof.
