A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Advice presented, based on exhaustive tests carried out on 88 test piles; variables affecting pile driving are: nature of soil strata penetrated, species and density of timber, its greenness, number and location of knots and crooks, and whether or not pine piles have been turpentined, tests indicate that heavy driving is no solution to pile foundation problems.
