Relationship of garnet-hydrogarnet series to sulfate resistance of Portland cements
Experiments on constituents, and on possible hydration products, of portland cement indicate that sulphate resistance of portland cement should be increased by any method resulting in removal from set cement of tricalcium aluminate hexahydrate, which is unstable in sulphate solutions, and substitution for aluminate of hydrogarnets containing iron or silica, which are stable in such solutions. (See also Concrete v 49 n 10 Oct 1941 (Cement Mill Sec) p 253-5)
