Demolition of a concrete arch
Reference is made to description which appeared in Ingenieur-Constructeur of demolition, three years after erection of unreinforced-concrete arch over railway line Paris-Chartres; two points especially noted were (1) slight effect of horizontal thrust of arch, and (2) efficiency of cement slurry joint between concrete layers, neither cracks nor separation of layers being apparent even after final collapse.
