Mean radiant and operative temperature for high-temperature sources of radiant heat
Experimental method was developed to express quantitatively effects of high intensity radiant heat on man's physiologic response and comfort; radiant energy received by unclothed subject from high temperature source was evaluated without specifying its quality by increase in his sweat rate; experimental conditions were so chosen that increase in subject's radiation load was balanced by equal increase in his evaporation loss. (See also ASHRAE J v 6 n 10 Oct 1964 p 67-71)
