Factors affecting skid resistance of polybutadiene
It is shown that satisfactory frictional properties on wet pavement may be obtained with treads containing cis-1, 4 polybutadiene through compounding variations without sacrifice in other properties; this is done by using higher levels of oil (highly aromatic oil is mandatory) than normal with proportional loading of carbon black; tests were made on both wet and dry pavement and on wet glare and dry glare ice.
