Aswan high dam
Review of design and construction of dam and power station, benefits and costs of project; dam will form barrier across Nile impounding it to height of over 100 m; on right it is by-passed by river diversion which will serve as head and tail race for hydroelectric power plant and for spillway sluices; on left there will be crest spillwier; both political and engineering controversies are noted, and reference is made to archeological program for re-siting temples, etc. (See also n 5699, 5700 Apr 16 1965 p 675-7, Apr 23 p 716-18)
