Design and construction of circular prestressed concrete reservoir
Design and construction of 2,000,000 gal circular prestressed concrete reservoir, 128 ft in diam and 26 ft high, covered by 3 1/4 in. thick concrete shell dome roof are described; walls and dome ring beam were prestressed with post-tensioned Freyssinet cables through ducts set in concrete; walls were half stressed, "pinned" to base, and then fully stressed; sequence of stressing created negative bending moment in walls when reservoir was empty, and therefore reduced number of vertical prestressing cables required; dome was mounted on rubber bearings.
