Widening work on London and North Eastern Railway
Map reproduced shows series of widenings completed between York and Northallerton; total length of additional running lines is 18 3/4 mi, for which British standard rails weighing 95 lb per yd were used; widenings did not involve particularly heavy earthworks; bridge work generally consisted of adding arches to overline bridges or of lengthening arch in underline bridges.
