Rubber has been added to road surfacing materials to improve their life; in West Germany, trial stretches on one of roads demonstrate advantages which can be obtained; details of mixing and laying; surfacings of this type normally require treatment after 5 to 6 yr; while repairs have been necessary to normal materials, rubberized surfaces are still free from maintenance.
