New rig lays heaviest precast pipe
New machine called Pipemobile is laying some of heaviest precast concrete pipe as one phase of bringing Colorado River Aqueduct up to full capacity; machine developed by American Pipe and Construction Co can insert itself into pipe section, pick it up, move it from trench-side storage area into position and seat pipe joint; Pipemobile has two sets of front wheels arranged in tandem.
